A bit about me

My story

I was born and raised in Alberta but my curious nature and zest for adventure has led me to many parts of the world. My experiences backpacking across Western Europe, Eastern Australia and Thailand sparked my interest in learning about human relationships, and specifically how communication is carried out across cultures. It was through my travels that I also realized just how important core life skills and self-awareness are to creating healthy and meaningful lives.

Education

While living in Singapore, I completed my undergraduate degree with a focus on psychology and communications. I also had the opportunity to immerse myself into energy work which included getting certified in Reiki and Zen Shiatsu practices. I quickly learned that I wanted to study psychology on a deeper level to find a way to make sense of how the body, mind and spirit work together (or apart) and to explore how they’re all interconnected in the way in which we experience life.

After completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree, my calling as a mental health professional became official. My life’s journey from my early childhood years in rural Alberta, to the worldly adventures I embarked on in my late teens and early adulthood, to my more recent experiences as a mother, wife, and mental health practitioner, have all led me to helping people find their purpose and power.

My perspective

What has become clearer to me over the years is that we all have the ability to make changes in our lives - to move us in the direction we wish to go - but sometimes it can be difficult to know or understand the steps we need to take to get there. To create the changes we want to see and experience, we need to commit to doing the work which includes opening ourselves up to the possibility of shifting our mindset, like looking into a kaleidoscope. The first look into a kaleidoscope shows an intricate and layered world of colours and shapes, and with a twist of the mechanism, a brand new picture is created, bringing with it the prospect of new possibilities.

My approach

I approach counselling through a holistic lens; believing as the saying goes that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’. We are complex beings and the way in which our bodies and minds are connected is similar to a network of intertwining webs communicating with one another. When factors like nutrition, personal purpose and beliefs, sleep, physical exercise, and social connections are considered, any combination of these can make a huge difference when designing a treatment plan.

You are the expert of your own life. My job is to ask meaningful questions, to collect and synthesize information, and work closely with you to design your treatment journey. You are a unique individual, and the path you take is distinctly your own.
